Your Permanent Resident Card is a very important document. It is evidence that you hold status as a permanent resident in Canada, and is essential if you plan to travel outside of Canada. Each time you re-enter Canada after a trip, you must present a valid, Permanent Resident Card, to prove your status and right of entry into Canada Your Permanent Resident Card expires every five years. Check the expiry date of your Permanent Resident Card and apply for a new one in advance of your travel date.
Only individuals who have been granted permanent resident status are eligible to apply for a Permanent Resident Card. Many confuse applying for Permanent Resident Cards with, applying for permanent resident Status. Applying for a Permanent Resident Card is not the same as applying for permanent resident status.
Typically applicants for Permanent Resident Card, include individuals seeking to replace their expired Permanent Resident Card or those seeking to replace a lost or stolen card.
Some individuals who were granted permanent resident status before June 28, 2002 never received a Permanent Resident Card, and may apply for a new card using this application.
Under normal circumstances, permanent residents who obtained status after June 28, 2002 receive Permanent Resident Card as part of the application process. However, applicants who did not receive a card due to IRCC error may also be eligible to apply for a Permanent Resident Card on this form.

To Apply for Canadian Citizenship
You must meet these eligibility requirements:
You must be at least 18 years of age.
You must be a Permanent Resident of Canada.
You must have resided in Canada for at least three of the last four years.
You must not have any criminal prohibitions.
You must pass the Citizenship Test and Interview.
You cannot become a citizen if you:
Have been convicted of an indictable (criminal) offence or an offence under the Citizenship Act in the three years before you apply;
Are currently charged with an indictable offence or an offence under the Citizenship Act;
Are in prison, on parole or on probation;
Are under a removal order (have been ordered by Canadian officials to leave Canada);
Are under investigation for, or charged with, or have been convicted of a war crime or a crime against humanity; or
Have had your Canadian citizenship taken away in the past five years.
To pass the citizenship test and interview, you must exhibit the following:
Adequate knowledge of English or French.
ArKnowledge of Canada, including the rights and responsibilities of citizenship and an understanding of Canada’s history, values, institutions and symbols.
